Since 1986, the Playbox Theatre has established a solid national and international reputation for its exceptional work with young artists from 2 to 21 years old. The organization is renowned for its in-depth and avant-garde training programs in the performing arts (theatre, dance, mime, circus arts and music). When the Playbox Theatre decided to upgrade its infrastructures in order to fully pursue its mandate, the National Lottery supported the development plan by dedicating £2.3 M to the construction of the Dream Factory.

The Dream Factory has a flexible performance hall, rehearsal and training rooms, a coffee shop, a retail shop and office spaces. Most rooms are flexible and transformable. Even the dressing rooms have fold-away table tops that cover the mirrors and create additional workshop spaces.
The theatre design includes retractable tiers and a Scéno Plus suspended wire mesh grid called the “Trampoline Net”. The Trampoline covers the whole ceiling and allows technicians to install stage equipment over the entire surface of the theatre.
