When Sceno Plus was challenged to provide a creative solution for the interior design of Revel’s spectacular main entrance, a large glass elliptical piece that rises to the sky, we envisioned an elegant art piece that would live as a floating jewel that would sparkle the tremendous amount of natural light.The suspension of this fine structure in such a majestic area adds a sense of wonderment in addition to a great human and artistic feel. This rain of sequences embraces lightness, movement, and refinement.
Outstanding features
Scéno Plus, as Artistic Director, led the development of the concept and coordinated the integration and the installation of the mobile. Our firm found in the artist Pascale Girardin the creative ability and the sensibility to realize the proposed concept.
Assembled in Montreal, this huge but delicate construction connects two mobiles together in order to produce a powerful shape and texture. With an overall structure weight of 2,800 pounds, the lifting and fixing operation of the structure was a great challenge for project managers and construction workers.
The mobile features 19,700 golden silk-screen printed aluminum flakes of 4 different dimensions fixed on 650 steel cables with a length ranging between 34 ft. to 90 ft. The installation of the flakes required a dozens of people working for 5 weeks, 8 hours per day.
Lighting systems in the Ellipse have been designed to illuminate and enhance the aluminum flakes during night time. Sceno Plus has collaborated with the firm Light Emotion to design a sophisticated lighting system that highlights the art piece and make it visible from the boardwalk as it shines through the glass facade.
