Mission accomplished for Scéno Plus and Théâtre du Nouveau Monde
The Montreal-based design firm Scéno Plus is proud to have participated in the renovation of the infrastructure at TNM. The theatre design work, started in 2009, was scheduled in two phases to avoid any conflicts with the programming of the theatre season. The first part of the project aimed to renew the TNM specialized equipment such as the sound system equipment, the video infrastructure, the lighting system as well as the rigging system and the stage curtains. The second phase focused on the replacement of the seats. The feasibility study proved that we needed to replace not only the seats but also to review their configuration and slope to improve spectator comfort and provide better sightlines.
"This renovation is essential for the TNM development and we are confident that these new facilities will allow the theatre to continue its mission of creating and innovating," said Benoit Panaccio, Theatre Designer at Scéno Plus.
The new stage equipment will now meet any needs of TNM for present and future theatrical productions. The reconfiguration and the replacement of the seats offers better sightlines for the audience and optimized comfort created by the larger clear space between the rows and the superior ergonomic qualities of the new seats.
